The 2018 Royal Show was a sweet success for patrons, organisers, and Peel’s!
Our honeys wowed the judges across multiple categories, winning multiple prizes. Peel’s Bean Blossom Travelogue honey won the Championship Trophy for best honey.
The annual Royal Show in Pietermaritzburg is Africa’s largest mixed exhibition and South Africa’s largest agricultural show.
In the apiarian section, beekeepers from across the country compete to have their honey named Championship Honey. Our Bean Blossom honey took the prize after scoring highly across all dimensions of colour, aroma, flavour, density, and general condition.
Peel’s Honey also won the following prizes:
- The C S Hayter Memorial Cup, presented by South African beekeepers as a perpetual floating trophy for the most points in Classes 1 to 16.
- The Merrick Cup, re-presented by the late C S Hayter, as a floating trophy for the most points in Classes 1 to 18.
- The Basil Tucker Memorial Floating Trophy, presented by Mrs Betty Tucker for the Natal beekeeper who is registered with the Natal Bee Farmers’ Association scoring the most points in classes 1 to 18.
- The Papadopolos Trophy, presented by the Natal Bee Farmers’ Association, to the exhibitor scoring the most points in classes 9 to 11.
Further, our display won a silver medallion.
We are exceptionally honoured and humbled by this prestigious achievement. Our beekeeping team work day and night to ensure that we only produce the best honey. We thank them for their hard work in bulding on Peel’s proud history!
